Facelift
For many younger people, keeping healthy skin typically requires less effort. A good skin care regimen with medical grade products or treatments like injectables or fillers, laser resurfacing, eyelid surgery, or facial fat grafting are effective for keeping the skin in shape. However, there comes a time when these less invasive options are not as effective. When this happens, the only solution to restoring a more youthful appearance might be a cosmetic facelift procedure.

What Causes Sagging Facial Skin
There is no single cause of sagging facial skin, but it is something that all of us will experience as we age. The older we get, the less collagen and elastin we produce, so as they break down, the skin becomes lax. Exposure to UV rays speeds up damage to the skin cells, including collagen and elastin. Then there are other things like diet, hydration and genetics that all play a role.
Your Facelift Options
At Swetnam Cosmetic, we also offer a wide range of surgical facial procedures, including full facelifts, mini facelifts, brow lifts, and eyelid lifts. Incisions from these types of procedures tend to heal very well and are often not noticeable after just six months to a year.
Because we also provide less invasive procedures and treatment options at Swetnam Cosmetic, we typically encourage patients to consider both for optimal, lasting results.

Facelift Recovery and Results
Most people can return to work about 1 to 2 weeks after surgery, depending on your comfort level with your busing and swelling. Expect your face to feel tight for a few months as everything settles into place. You will have some bandages during the first week or so and need to modify your sleep routine if you are a side sleeper. Due to residual swelling, it usually takes about 6 months to see your final results, but initial results can be seen in 1 to 3 months.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a facelift cost?
There is no set price for a facelift. Factors that determine your cost include what type of a facelift you get, how significant your skin sagging is and if you need to add on other treatments to replace lost volume. Your cost will include the surgeon’s fee, anesthesia fee and facility/OR fee, and could include other costs as well. To get an accurate estimate for your procedure, schedule a consultation with Dr. Swetnam.
How long does a facelift last?
If you take good care of your skin, eat a balanced diet and hydrate, you can expect your facelift results to last about 20 years, or 10 to 15 years with a mini facelift. Keep in mind that everyone is different and the way your body responds to surgery is unique to you. Don’t base your expectations on averages or others’ experiences.
How do I find the best facelift surgeon near me?
Start by researching facelift cosmetic surgeons near you and reading patient reviews. Cut down the possibilities to the 5 to 7 best reviewed surgeons, then check out their websites to see their before and after photos of facelift patients to see if there are some that align with your goals. Schedule consultations with 2 to 3 surgeons you think will be a good fit and select the one who feels like the right person to partner with for your surgery.
What are the scars like after a facelift?
The incisions used for a facelift are very small. They are also made out of sight in most cases. Typical spots for facelift incisions include in the hairline, behind the ears and under the chin. While you might be able to feel their texture, most people find they fade to invisibility within a year of their surgery.
How soon after massive weight loss can I get a facelift?
After significant weight loss, many parts of the body sag, including the face and neck. It is common for people to seek a facelift after reaching their goal weight. However, you should wait at least 6 months after your weight is stable — no fluctuations greater than ten pounds.
