Brow Lift
With aging and thinning of skin, the forehead and eyebrow area are common places for skin to begin drooping. This drooping skin can cause you to look tired or upset, even when you feel well rested and happy! A brow lift addresses areas of concern on the upper third of the face and can significantly restore a more youthful appearance. This procedure removes excess, sagging skin on the forehead and repositions underlying muscle structures, revealing a younger-looking forehead area.

What Is a Brow Lift?
A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift or browplasty, is a cosmetic surgery procedure that elevates drooping eyebrows that create an angry expression and may even obstruct vision. This can also remove deep lines that run across the forehead.
Dr. Swetnam offers patients a natural and beautiful result from a brow lift. Small incisions are made in the hairline, so there are no visible scars from this procedure and most patients find recovery to be quick and manageable.
What Causes the Brows to Sag?
There are many factors that contribute to sagging brows. Gravity alone plays a factor, as does the natural loss of volume, collagen and elastin we experience as we age. Sun exposure, screen time and frequent scowling can also lead to sagging brows.
Who Is a Good Candidate for a Brow Lift?
Anyone who has eyebrows that sit lower than they’d like or obstruct their vision could benefit from a brow lift. Additionally, if you have forehead lines or the “angry 11s” between your eyebrows, the procedure could benefit you. Most people who get brow lifts are over 40, but there is no upper or lower age limit on who can get this surgery.

Combination Procedures
While you might be happy to get a brow lift on its own, it pairs great with other cosmetic facial procedures. Many people opt to get a mini facelift at the same time to address sagging in the lower face. You can also combine it with med spa procedures, such as Morpheus8 or Evolve Facial Remodeling.

Brow Lift Recovery and Results
Most people feel well enough to return to work about a week after surgery, though this can vary based on your level of swelling and bruising. In most cases, patients feel back to normal after 14 days. Just keep in mind that it can take several more weeks for the swelling to reduce enough that you can truly see your results.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a brow lift cost?
Brow lifts are tailored to the needs of the patient, and the price is tailored to the specifics of the procedure. This means there is no set cost. To know how much a brow lift will cost you, schedule a consultation with Dr. Swetnam. Expect your estimate to include the surgeon’s fee, anesthesia fee and facility/OR fee. It may include other costs as well.
Will a brow lift improve my vision?
If your eyebrows are sagging enough to reduce your field of vision, getting them lifted can open it back up. However, most people seek a brow lift before things reach this point. If your vision issues are related to things like nearsightedness or farsightedness, a brow lift will not make a difference.
How do I find the best brow lift surgeon near me?
Start with a quick search for brow lift surgeons near you and checking the best reviewed surgeons. Next, check out their websites to see their before and after photos of brow lift patients to see if there are some that align with your goals. Then schedule consultations with 2 to 3 surgeons you think will be a good fit and select the one who feels like the right partner for your surgery.
What are the scars like after a brow lift?
They should be hidden in your hair line, so they won’t be visible in most cases. You may find that you can feel them, though, since scar tissue tends to be raised. When they are fresh, they could be red enough to see, but over time, expect them to fade to the point where you no longer notice them.
How old do I need to be before getting a brow lift?
There is no lower (or upper) age limit beyond being of legal age. Most people won’t see much benefit from a brow lift until they are in their late 20s or early 30s. The important thing is that you are healthy enough for surgery and have realistic expectations for how it will help you.
