Brazilian Butt lift: The good, the bad, and the ugly.
You want a shapelier bottom, we get it. It looks good and it is all the rage. But what do you need to know?
Fat grafting to the buttocks, AKA, Brazilian Butt lift, is a great procedure to help improve the balance of your body figure and build confidence with a buttock profile you are proud of.
First, you must have some fat to transfer. If you don’t have at least a liter of useable fat to transfer, preferably 2, the procedure probably will not make you happy.
Second, you have to know specifically what you want. Do you want a shelf like butt? Do you want a more rounded butt or a heart shaped butt, or somewhere in between? Before your consult, you need to consider what you want as an outcome.
Third, be aware of potential complications. Recently, due to the number of unqualified practitioners doing this procedure, the complication rate has become excessively high. High to the point that some states have threatened to outlaw the procedure. Unfortunately, the deadliest complication is a fat embolism. When this happens, it is not survivable.
For the above reasons, make sure you choose your surgeon wisely. Board certification in a specialty that trains for Cosmetic surgery such as The American Board of Cosmetic Surgery or the American Board of Plastic Surgery is important. Experience is the next most important thing. How many has your surgeon done and is he or she aware of the complications and how to avoid them. A weekend course doesn’t count here.
At Swetnam Cosmetic Surgery, this is what we do. Come see us for a complimentary consultation.
