Body contouring after massive weight loss
How you lose the weight does not really matter, and how much is “massive” depends on a number of factors such as, how tall you are, your build, and other factors. There are many options to lose weight today. Diets for days, medications, exercise programs, support groups, mail order meals, and the biggy, weight loss surgery.
Let’s say, regardless of how you did it, you did it: you lost the weight and achieved your goal… now what? You now have a new problem of excess skin you need to deal with. What can you do?
That’s where we come in. Experience with body contouring after massive weight loss is critical. Consumers in this space should be very careful when choosing where to spend their hard-earned money. Choosing a surgeon with access to non-invasive, minimally invasive, and experience in surgical body contouring is paramount, and finding a surgeon with experience in upper and lower body lifting, combinations of arm and underarm with breast lifting, thigh lifting, tummy tucks with central components, and larger panniculectomies is difficult. These are often long and involved cases that require planning and a little artistry to have good outcomes. Training and experience are required to know what will and will not work for you, as we know, every BODY is different.
Personally, I have seen it all. Some people lose large amounts of weight with good skin retraction, no stretch marks, and need hardly anything. I hear their story and I’m thinking to myself, “this is going to be bad” and then I am pleasantly surprised and happy they need very little. Others, with similar stories are not as fortunate and do require a lot of work to get where they want to be. I am proud to be able to see, evaluate, and offer options from A-Z.
From my training until today, over 10 years, I have done a lot of body contouring after Bariatric surgery and massive weight loss. If I haven’t done the most in the area, I am sure I am in the running. When I was practicing in Tulsa and North Eastern Oklahoma, we were affiliated with bariatric surgeons there and that tradition has continued in Northwest Arkansas. Over the years, I have realized, treating this patient population is as rewarding as it is challenging. Some individuals require significant thought and preparation on my part as there is not a “standard” procedure for the way their body responded to weight loss. Others follow the routine and normal procedures are in order. The trick is knowing which I am dealing with and that only comes with experience.
At Swetnam Cosmetic Surgery we are the go-to place for body contouring, period. We offer the entire gamut of technology and have mountains of experience with them all. From Cool-Sculpting (early to the technology in NW, AR), to liposuction and Body Tite RFAL (First to do body tite in NW, AR and the only Cosmetic Board Certified surgeon to offer the technology in the area), to large volume 360 degree liposuction (over 10 years of experience), to actual body contouring procedures (one of the most experienced in the area), we can fulfill all of your needs. Don’t be fooled by offers of one technology for all patient’s problems, it’s not true. You will waste time, money AND have an unsatisfactory result.
Come see us for a complimentary consultation or schedule a virtual consult. We can help with insurance on certain procedures normally covered too.
I look forward to helping you complete the journey!!
